Tuesday Rider Spotlight - Charlotte Bryant

This week we posed our questions to World Games Medalist and Ltd. Optics Team Rider Charlotte Bryant

Ltd. Optics:

Tell us about how you got started in the wakeboarding scene.

Charlotte:

A friend took me down to the lake and asked me if I wanted to give kneeboarding a go as you have to do this before wakeboarding. Once I had the hang of kneeboarding I got out on a wakeboard and fell in love straight away.

Ltd. Optics:

You were able to be a part of the World Games in 2013 and won a silver medal, tell us about how awesome that experience was.

Charlotte:

This was the coolest experience for me. I got asked by the British Federation if I would represent Great Britain in Colombia, there was no way I could turn that opportunity down. I was stoked on my result as I was only aiming to make the finals.

Ltd. Optics:

What would you be doing if you were not a pro wakeboarder?

Charlotte:

To be honest I am not actually that sure on that one. Something sporty, I was quite into horse riding when I was younger, loved going over the big jumps, so maybe that.

Ltd. Optics:

What does 2014 have in store for you?

Charlotte:

I am not to sure on what it has in store for me! Things pop up all over the place! But the usual thing, I am in Orlando at the moment training and getting ready for the competition season to kick off.

Ltd. Optics:

Some readers may not know that you are based out of the UK, how is the wake scene over there? What is different between the UK scene and the states?

Charlotte:

The wake scene is a lot smaller over in the UK as gas prices are far more expensive and there are not as many places to put a boat! So it's not as easy to get out on the water as being in America. Also, the weather is a lot cooler so sometimes we are having to break the ice to get out on the water during the winter (slightly crazy I know!)

Ltd. Optics:

Tell us about the group that you ride with, do you have a specific crew you like to ride with?

Charlotte:

I like to ride with everyone really I just like the good vibes you get from riding with friends. I mainly ride with Raimi Merritt when in Orlando but I have been mixing it up a bit as well.

Ltd. Optics:

Cable boarding has been growing in popularity here in the states, are you a fan of this growing trend? Do you think it is easier/harder than behind a boat?

Charlotte:

I wouldn't say it is easier or harder, I would say it is different,  it uses different skills. I like it, it's always a lot of fun heading over to the cable park to hit some rails. Also its pretty handy for when the lake is blown out and not very good for taking the boat out.

Ltd. Optics:

Who do you want to give a shout out to?

Charlotte:

I want to give a big shout out to Ltd. Optics for the awesome shades and support. Snow and Wake Bulgaria, go and check them out for great priced wakeboarding and snowboarding holidays. Also Honchos UK, Billabong Europe, Drift Innovation and Watersports World UK.
