Hometown?

Portland, Maine / Salt Lake City, Utah

How did you get into Snowboarding?

Luck and perfect timing. The early '80s snowboarding influence began to ripple across the East Coast. In the summer of 1985, I made a goal to buy my first snowboard; I had to scoop a lot of ice cream cones. It was an amazing feeling taking my first turns, I was hooked. Snowboarding really spoke to me, it drew me in.

What is your favorite shred spot?

Any mountain range with challenging terrain. the Wasatch has been my West Coast home base since May 1993.

Backcountry, Park, or Street?

Backcountry

If you could have dinner with 3 people, dead or alive, who would they be and why?

Reinhold Messner (To learn from his amazing accomplishments, mindset and continued activism), Alex Lowe (there would be a lot to learn and share) Lana Del Ray (Beautifully talented, stunning and the dinner conversation would be interesting)

What are your goals for this season?

Travel more, access more remote areas via splitboard, sign with an outerwear/clothing sponsor, drive the success of companies I'm working with, influence people to explore via Splitboard, capture more imagery and film of my explorations and to help guide positive environmental action.

Who is your favorite pro athlete and why?

There are so many to name here. Anyone who is excelling at their chosen sport, positively influencing future generations and caring for the environment.

What are 3 things you like to do outside of Snowboarding?

Snowboard/Splitboard building, adventuring, photography

Who are the top 3 bands/artists you're into right now?

Arctic Monkeys, Band of Skulls, The Neighbourhood

What sets you apart?

This is a funny question, apart from what?

What advice would you give kids that want to make in your sport?

Find a mentor, one who is passionate and can help develop your athleticism, build on your strengths, and guide you to accomplish goals. Stay humble and be nice. Be a graceful competitor, if you lose, it's not the end of the world; mistakes and failure builds character and motivation to excel. Never lose the passion of the sport or the soul. And if you going to compete and that's part of your goals...be a wolf!
